Frequently Asked Questions

*As we fill up for the winter season, NO consignments will be accepted after november 21st, with the exclusion of designer handbags such as LV, Gucci, Chanel, etc*

Why is resale gaining such popularity?
Aside from the struggling economy, much of the recent growth can be attributed to young shoppers who are passing on trips to the mall in favor of consignment shops.

How long does it take to find out if you are accepting my items?
It's immediate! We will look them over when you bring them in, and then pricing is done later.

Is there any paperwork involved in the consignment process?
Your sales associate will ask you a few questions, like your name, address, etc. We will also print out a contract for your signature.

How long will I need to leave my items with you?
We keep all merchandise on consignment for 60 days.

Is it only women's clothing?
No, we also offer men's accessories!

Who owns the items once they are in the store?
You always own your items. We also provide you with your own website so you can monitor your items. When the contract is up and if you have any remaining items, you may take them back.

How are my items priced?
Prices are based on popularity, as well as style, brand and condition.

Is there a general rule for pricing or is it more of a guessing game?
Items that are out of the ordinary are researched online for the most fair selling price and value.

Why do you require that items come in pressed and cleaned?
We pride ourselves on carrying high quality clothing that is in pristine condition.

How much will I make?
As a team, we believe that you will never receive less than 50% of the sale.

When will I get paid?
Consignment checks are processed once a month upon request.

What if my items don't sell?
When your contract is over and some of your items are remaining, you can take them back.

Can I still be a consignor if I don't live in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ?
Absolutely!

Why should I take my items to a consignment or resale shop instead of selling them on eBay, having a garage sale, taking them to a home swap party etc.?
Besides the convenience of being able to just drop your items off, you will not have to deal with the time consuming work of meeting buyers or the cost of shipping expenses. Just drop off your items and collect a check!

What should a shopper look for when shopping resale?
Look for items that fit your style, and search for items that are high quality and well priced. It's also important to look for any damage, missing buttons, stains, etc. – but you won't have to worry about that at Deja Vu, because we've screened our items for these issues before agreeing to sell them!
